How much CBD should I take? This is the most commonly asked question. Just like any highly beneficial supplement, while there are major advantages to adding CBD products to your diet, it is possible to have too much of a good thing.
Consuming the right amount comes down to finding out what is right for your body, and the amount that really works for your endocannabinoid system. In terms of optimal dose, only you can decide at what level you feel most comfortable at by reflecting on how you feel and your thought process. CBD isn’t an obvious thing, so you won’t be able to ‘feel’ it working, but you may notice you feel slightly different in certain situations and have a general better sense of well-being, whilst your body soaks up all the CBD you supplement with and distributes it around the body for use.
The key thing is to not get too bogged down in all the percentages and strengths, but just get started with a low dose and work your way up sooner rather than later.
There are a vast range of hemp CBD oil products available on the market that have the different dosages clearly labelled. On most CBD products, you will be able to see that the dosage amount is labelled in mg, this is the same as what you would find on a packet of painkillers, for example.
Unlike painkillers where one tablet is commonly around 500mg, if you’re just starting out with CBD then we recommend users start low with a dose of around 10-15mg , taken in two doses, evenly spaced throughout the day.
Once you get more familiar with CBD, then you can increase the dose slowly; often done every 5-7 days until such a point where you feel that you are getting the full benefits of the product. This is called the uptitration method (up-tie-tray-shen). Your body only needs a very small amount of the CBD for your body to positively respond.
To help you get a better understanding of how to hit that sweet spot where the benefits are optimum, you can take a look at the bell-chart below. This aptly demonstrates just how increasing your dose of CBD can have a benefit to your body, until such a point when too much puts you on the negative trend. Being on the negative trend can destroy many of the benefits that being on the positive trend can deliver to your body.
Over time, too high of a dose could begin to wear out your receptors and mean that you’ll get less of the benefits of CBD hemp products, even with a higher dose. This makes it incredibly important to start with a low dose and work your way up to the right dose for your body – hitting the sweet spot on your body’s metaphorical 'curve'.
If you’re ever in doubt about the dosage of CBD in each product you can take a look at the chart below. While Hempura products can offer a wealth of benefits – getting the right dose is essential!
